Getting Involved in the Lab
The Culture and Language Lab welcomes student researchers who are interested in gaining research experience and collaborators who are interested in our work. Please see the options below to find what best matches your interests. For all other inquiries, feel free to contact our lab director, Dr. Merrisa Lin (mlin@fairfield.edu).
Undergraduate Student Researchers
The Culture and Language Lab regularly reviews undergraduate research assistant applications. Please feel free to reach out!
As a research assistant, you will gain firsthand experience with how research is conducted. You will learn about many steps of the research process including idea generation, ethical considerations, study design, participant recruitment, data collection, data coding, data entry, and more. Research assistants are also expected to actively participate in lab meetings.
If you are a Fairfield student, you may join the lab as a volunteer, or you may be able to earn research or thesis credits.
Are you interested in getting involved and gaining hands-on research experience? Please (1) complete the application form and (2) email your transcript indicating the courses you’ve taken to Dr. Merrisa Lin at mlin@fairfield.edu.
Graduate Student Researchers and Interns
We always welcome interested graduate students to collaborate with the lab. Dr. Lin provides research mentorship to students whose interests align with our work and is happy to talk about potential projects and shared interests. Our lab may have summer research opportunities for student interns to get involved.
If interested, please email your research interests and detailed inquiries to Dr. Merrisa Lin at mlin@fairfield.edu.
